We also operate as a mixed cattle, sheep Red deer farm. Bordering the Snowy River National Park and State Forest, we have an abundance of wildlife, more than fifty species of birds, as healthy as the rivers own array of wildlife including platypus, and the frightfully named but harmless Snowy River Crocodile (Also obvious as the Eastern Water Dragon). Both houses are within five minutes walk of the river each having its own remote section of the river. With endless beauty surrounding the lodges, Snowy River wilderness is unlike any other accommodation around the area, allowing a unique experience for all who wish to visit the area. Large covered veranda with magnificent views of the Snowy River which is a brief 100m walk. The ideal location for that much needed retreat from everyday life. Walk along the boundary fence and explore the wildlife that make home at Snowy River wilderness, and appreciate the pretty scenery that surrounds. The wildlife even comes to you, with many species of Birds making home nearby both of the lodges, for those who simply enjoy the beauty of our Australian wildlife. The spectacular scenery that surrounds Snowy River wilderness is home to lovely wildlife that will ensure picture accurate moments captured on film. Take a walk along the river to see the gorge, a concise yet scenic twenty tiny walk from either lodge. Succeed the deer fence lines to explore even more spectacular view points, and a expansive variety of flora and fauna. Take your camera and binoculars and see a myriad of bird life at home along the Snowy River. There are shallow sections of the water ideal for young children to play in and deeper sections also for experienced swimmers. Although we do not supply canoes at Snowy River wilderness, you are welcome to bring your own to experience the quiet of being on the river firsthand. Below are fair a few of the National Parks surrounding the Snowy River: Snowy River wilderness provides a vast base for many short trips around the area from the caves at Buchan, to MacKillops Crossing, to Orbost, to Carlo, Cape Conan or even to Mallacoota all can be experience within a days drive. Orbost is the service center for the primary industries of dairy farming, seed corn production and processing, beef and timber harvesting. Receive a cruise back in time on the Brodribb River near Carlo on the recreated paddle steamer of which the original old to transport bear down the Snowy River. Cycle or walk along the Rail Follow and see the rich farmland and scenery.
