What you should know about Araluen Park Cottages
Araluen meaning place of waterlilies the story so far. We purchased the property which we have since called Araluen Park in slow 2002. The property was impartial lower 200 acres, had no house and had been impaired for grazing cattle. A meaningful gully, piece of the bung Creek catchment, cuts through the front portion of the property. It soon became obvious that about 40 acres of this fore portion of the property was not suitable for cattle and an alternative concept of sustainable land use and restoration of habitat was explored. What followed was the development of a number of individual environmentally gregarious cottages in a instinctive setting with a long term plan for native vegetation restoration of the gully. Integral to the cottage design were elements of sustainability including solar power, waste water management systems, domestic potable water collection and recycling. We saw this award as recognition of our contribution and commitment to sustainability and the environment. Built with love and a care for the environment. Whilst having a focus on sustainability, we did not want to compromise on lifestyle, appreciating that our guests should expect the normal comforts afforded to country style accommodation. We both share an interest in building, furniture and vintage and old items. The lead lighting throughout the cottages are all our own works. The re vegetation of the native vegetation around the cottages has commenced, and the improved habitat has seen an enlarge in the native flora and fauna in the area. The rain forest gullies have started to seduce some of the unique creatures only found around such vegetation. There is simply now where else we would rather be. It’s very unusual to find such well equipped, thoughtfully and tastefully furnished, snug accommodation.
